Braggin' (mostly for the grandparents sake)

Riley and I were up at the crack of dawn today to get to his school by 7 a.m.. (school doesn't start until 8)

They were having an awards ceremony for students that had 100 or more AR (accelerated reader) points.

Of course one of my maniac readers would get an award like this.

Both the boys LOVE to read! Always have and I pray they always will.

Riley with his certificate and medal. He also got a free dinner at Chili's.

A close up of the medal.

72 students got awards! Riley had a little over 106 points. The top person had 605 points...JEEPERS! I challanged Riley to be the top person next year...hmmm...we'lll see.

On another note. He also brought home his TAKS (Texas Assesment of Knowledge and Skills) test scores today. He got "Commended" on all three tests, reading, writing and math! Translation --- very high marks!

So Proud!!!

Ummm....did I mention that Dylan got "Lamar Leader" this final six weeks at his school? They only award 2 students from each grade level each six weeks this award. And he was one of the ones that got it the final six weeks of school for the 7th grade. The award has to do with good citizenship and grades.

Very Proud!!!

I love these boys so much! I must say - they make their dad and I very, very, very proud to be their parents.

Gotta Run - treating them to a yummy dinner out!

Thankful Thursday

This is not original...I saw it on someone's elses blog and thought that it would be a good exercise for me to remember how blessed I am.
So...this Thursday I am thankful for:
*God
*an AMAZING husband who is a WONDERFUL father to...
*2 sons who make their dad and I VERY proud
*friends who listen
*friends who make me laugh
*a GREAT family
*a job I LOVE
*summer (kids out of school) will soon be here
*holidays that make the work week shorter - more weekend relaxing time!
*a day off alone with my hubby (tomorrow)
There's more I'm sure but these are the few that popped into my head before I headed out the door for my walk/jog tonight.

We're in the pool!

This is Riley - soaking up some sun and fun!

Last Friday after school and work him and I had some fun in the sun - for the first time this "summer".

I had a little bit better picture I took on my iphone but my finger was in the way...darn.

We're looking forward to many more good times this year but I just had to post a pic of our first foray into the pool.

Birds of a feather

A couple of days a week I work from home. My boss/friend, Sheila, and I share an office - until the old Albertson's on 407 and Morriss is retrofitted for our new Flower Mound Village Church Campus. And then....my own office! Yeah!!!

Anyway...at home I have a desk in the corner of my living room that looks out onto our backyard. Here's a snapshot of it...

The window there on the left, where I have the drape propped open, looks directly out onto a couple of birdfeeders.

Last week when I was working at home I decided that I would try to snap a picture of every bird (eventually ended up catching a couple of squirrels too) that popped by to snag some feed. Ummm...yes Sheila, I was working more than snapping photos. I promise!
So, here is who I caught eating from the feeders.

(LOVE the face on this guy - {{giggle}})

(not the same critter as above - you can tell by the fingers)
